Motivation and Update
Well, its true, Climbing begets climbing, totally motivated at the moment, even when feeling rubbish, worn out and sleepy, Im eager to get on and climb, Now its just indoors at the mo, cold wet weekend and dark nights helping. The winter lecture series has motivated me, specifically Dave MacLeod's talk abot hard trad and his new E lines. Steppin out of the comfort zone is relative, climbing is cool, If your rubbish, weak, you can still win, topping that S or 5 when your used to VD/4, feels like youve achieved something. I remember school sports, if you were rubbish, you didnt get a touch of the ball etc, it was boring, Climbing is so much better, you dont compete, you dont pick sides, and even those of us with no strength can still top out, can still climb a little harder, a little nicer, its pretty cool when you think about it. This is where Im seeing my motivation now, its been trigered by reading, and listening, but in me now is a desire to climb harder, Im working on my head, its coming together now, strength is building. Im working 6a+ now, leading some 6a stuff, so I can see some improvement,
The Challenge? well, is to keep improving, not really the grade, more myself, that I feel I climb better, harder, lighter, more stylish. Ive noticed myself that my feet are much better, more accurate.
So Update, we toppied the E1 at duntelchaig, was nogear really, the onlu gear spot was one easy move from the top out, wasnt that hard really, not sure was 5a/b ish, more a 4C, Dunno for sure, looked at the VS to the right, given more energy Id have given it a few goes.
Not sure when I will be on rock next, maybe this weekend, but its so very cold, maybe bouldering season?

Weekend Plans
Its been a while, it might hurt, it may not work, but Im looking forward to mating again with my love. Now Get you mind out of the gutter young man, Im taking about trad, leading, you know, climbing the way god intended, or at least thats what Ill say
Off to Duntelchaig, theres some easy lines and a nice E1 that looked doable, may toppy it first and get a feel for the holds, theres no gear till you dont need it, sounds like a much harder route, altho this is only a few metres from the deck, the alpkit mat might get a pounding if I fluff it.
Will report back on monday on how I get on, now what to have for lunch... pasta, soup or something much more fun..... I think perhaps I need the pasta to get me up the rocks

Surfs Up
Headed to my projects yesterday, Psyched and ready to add some new lines, knew the tide was high, but had been before and apart from the odd wet foot if you slipped, would have been ok. However the god of waves was playing his game, and my projects were showered by wave after wave, why were there no surf dudes? the waves were standing from 100-150m out, 5-10 footers but breaking much higher.
Ill post up a pic this week of the waves
Its hard to keep the motivation up, but Im trying a mix of thinking, climbing and watching, imagination needs to kept going in days like these, I even have names picked out for the problems
Might have to get up super early to go get these problems fixed, like 4 am!!

Blood Stained Sand
Its Valentines day all over again, same as last year, same as next. Lots of cards and last minute flowers, hurried scribbles and a few tesco roses. Dont get me wrong, done properly, its a great way to kick start things, to make more of an effort, but it can be more than once a year.
I was driving to work this morning, listening to some tunes, Dixie Chicks if you must know, (please dont judge me) the song was about a soldier being far away and writing home. I was thinking of all the people left behind today, sat at home alone or with there young kids, wishing there loved on was making the tea or kissing them as they passed over some flowers. How some tatty flowers would make them as happy as anything could. So many people are away from home, fighting a war they done believe in, longing to come home, with no control over there lives. Can we please just pack it in and get out people home? theres so much good to be done out there, people need food, new homes, new work places, new roads and bridges, people need a bowl of rice. This is what our armed forces should do, go out and show the love and compassion for fellow man. Surely that would calm the rage of those who seem to want to end our days.
So think today of those who dont have there love with them, who will cry when they go to bed being alone. And think of the blood stanied sands of those who wont come home.
Enjoy the day, but spare a thought for those who dont have what you have, be grateful for this and send some love to those who need it, maybe one day we can win over nations and people with love and not with war.
