All Alone!

Some people need to have company, they struggle on there own, its not wrong, but ist how some people are. The thought of a few days in the mountains alone would scare some, seem boring to others.

Well Ive always loved having days or weekends on my own. By necessity, ive got used to it. Ive often taken myself off to the Peak District or Lake District for a weekend day or a small backpacking trip. Ive done all but one of my recent winter routes on my own. Recently I took myself down to Braemar to do Beinn a Bhuird and Ben Avon, a 40k circuit of 2 munros. I walked up Glen Slugain and pitched the little tent for the night, the next day I walked the circuit of 35k and back via the tent to the car. So a very brief trip report, what Im really writing about is the mind of the solo climber, walker etc. I love to boulder on my own, I would route on my own if more confident and better. To boulder alone feels very free to me, I go to a place that in 6 visits ive seen 3 people, its very quiet.

Walking alone lets me think, I dont miss people, ive never felt lonely when walking alone. I see a lot of wildlife, birds, insects even a frog! I love being alone in the hills, theres something of self reliance there, carrying all I need, doing it alone, no one to bail me out. It takes no time at all to get the weekly grind our of my system, I feel very much at home, very comfy.

Ill write more on this soon about feelings, fear, relief, joy etc

But if anyone passes by and has anything worthwhile to say or discuss on doing it alone, that would be really interesting. A friend of mine does a lot of hard climbing alone, I havent yet got to the bottom of it, worked it all out, found his reasoning here. Im curious to know your views on solo projects. Even if you think there crazy, mad, wild.
